What a Fun Ride

Fitting that the year before a pending lockout the NFL had its most entertaining and top grossing season ever. As an NFL fan it was the greatest season ever, every week left you scratching your head and the term Any Given Sunday (great movie by the way) never rang trurer than it did this season
These were the top 20 stories of the season I thought. So many things went down I had to make it 20, 15 let alone 10 just couldn't cut it.

20. NFL Draft switched to primetime and is now three days long, Sam Bradford is first pick by the Rams

19. Randy Moss is relased by the New England Patriots, then picked up by his first team the Minnesota Vikings, then he was traded to the Tennessee Titans were he still didn't make a difference

18. Will Brett Favre return for 2010 season...answer yes...kinda

17. Julius Peppers goes to Chi-town

16. Mike Martz also goes to Chi-town to help Jay Cutler

15. Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco team up in Cincinnati

14. Peyton Hillis become first relavent white running back in pretty much forever

13. Lions begin their winning ways and end regular season with longest WINNING streak in NFC

12. Minnesota roof collapses and moves Monday Night game to Detroit making it two straight primetime games held in Detroit that didn't involve the Lions (Super Bowl XL and Giants vs Vikings Monday Night)

11. Brett Favre goes through rough season and losses games started streak at 297 regular season games

10. No winning record in NFC West

9. Rules rules rules, NFL to maybe lengthen season, changes the rules of completion or incompletion this offseason, cracking down on tackling by leading with helmets

8. Ben Roethlisburger rapes a girl in the bathroom at a University of Georgia bar.

7. Donovan McNabb goes to Washington and becomes third string while Albert Haynesworth sits the bench with his $100,000,000

6. Cowboys go from pre-season favorites to losers and fire head coach Wade Phillips after embarassing loss

5. Jets...enough said

4. Seahawks beat Saints in Wild Card game, becomes not only first team to win in playoffs with losing record but the first team with losing record in the playoffs ever!

3. Brett Favre is creepier then Ben Roethlisburger

2. Mike Vick is comeback player of the year

1. Packers win the Super Bowl bringing the trophy back to title town Green Bay, Wis

Ok yes the Mike Vick story was a big deal, but I was more impressed with the story in Green Bay and here is why with another list.

5. Packers lose #1 Running Back Ryan Grant in week one, star tight end Jermicheal Finley, linebackers Brandon Chillar Brady Poppinga Nick Barnett and Brad Jones, and T Mark Tauscher

4. Undrafted Free agent Frank Zombo steps in and helps, then gets injuried only to comeback big in the Super Bowl

3. Aaron Rodgers gets second concussion and loses to Detroit Lions.

2. Matt Flynn steps in and has strong showing boosting momentum for the down and out Packers

1. Everything that could go right did. Lions win first road game in 24 attempts and beats Tampa Bay giving Green Bay the edge over Tampa Bay, then the Eagles comeback down 21 and beats the Giants to get the Packers just a half game below the Giants, Packer but a beatdown on the Giants giving them the sixth seed in three way tie for sixth between Bucs, Giants, and Packers. Tampa Bay beats Saints the Giants beat the Redskins so Packers are forced with must win against rival Bears, the Packers hold on to win defensive struggle, Packers beat Eagles and Vick after they gave Mike Vick the shot at the starting spot in week one when they injured Kevin Kolb, Packers beat #1 seeded Falcons in a beatdown, Packers hold off Caleb Haine and the Bears in grudge match for NFC title, then finally they beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl stopping the Steelers to get super bowl win number seven.
